Please excuse our mess! We are finally updating our lab website and learning the ropes of creating a website as a Github page using Jekyll platform. We are using the Wurm Lab at Queen Mary University London site as a template. We are very grateful for their code to practice and learn from! As we update, please refer to the current website for the Palmer Lab.

r-OpenScience named Kelly Hondula as a 2018 recipient of a competitive fellowship designed to enable and support communities of researchers who embrace open and reproducible research practices. Her fellowship will involve creation of tools and training materials to help manage diverse types of hydrologic, soil, and ecological data with workflows in R structures around an information model called ODM2. The American Society of Limnology and Oceanography has awarded Dr. Margaret A. Palmer of the University of Maryland, College Park this distinguished honor in recognition for being a champion of solution-driven science for the protection of freshwaters. The award will be presented at the ASLO Summer Meeting in Victoria, British Columbia in June 2018. Read more here

In January 2010, Palmer and colleagues released a paper in Science documenting the environmental consequences of mountaintop mining in central Appalachia. In addition to much press coverage, a Senate hearing, and multiple meetings with natural resource leaders, Palmer was interviewed by Steve Colbert. Watch the amusing but informative video
